About Kiwitreks

Kiwi trekker

Kiwitreks

Kiwitreks is based on Northland's famed Kauri Coast at Kaihu Farm Accomodation.

In addition to accomodation Kaihu Farm enables both the independent and organised traveller to obtain independent tramping (trekking or hiking) advice from the Northern Tramping Centre. They have information on the local walks and most of the others within Northland. Come in, have a cup of tea and a chat.

The fast growing recreational sport of Geocaching is also well catered for here. There are a number of caches locally, and quite a few others a bit further afield.

What to bring.
Plenty of film or batteries for the camera. Good walking shoes. Warm clothes and rain protection.

Fitness level.
The walks have varying levels of fitness requirements. Please look at the individual walks for these pointers. Most walks are a full day (or multi days) and will take 6 - 10 hours to complete dependent upon the weather.

We try not to rush along, but take our time so that you are able to enjoy the experience. There is nothing worse than getting to the end of a fabulous walk, and the only memory to have is of sore feet!

You will be supplied with a lightweight pack and overnight safety equipment (Including rations) just in case we get caught out. Approx weight is 3 Kgs with plenty of room for food and your own stuff.

In addition your guide will carry GPS, ELB and a mobile phone for emergencies.

You will be transported to and from the guided walk from your accomodation at Kaihu Farm.

Cost: Charged per person, in New Zealand dollars and includes GST at 12.5%. A Tax Invoice will be issued upon request.

Most guided walks includes 2 nights accomodation, all meals, transport to and from the walk, a local guide and a souvenir package, unless otherwise stated on the walk information page.
